Though they have a natural affinity for machinery, it took Brian a while to get used to other races of people (speaking out loud all the time is annoying and how do their small brains even manage to control such a large body?!) Brian does feel a kinship with their shipmates, even though the others make decisions that often seem strange and illogical. In fact, Brian's shipmates are the ones who gave them the name "Brian" as their actual name is more of a frame of thought than something pronounceable.

The youngest in a long line of Dessamar empaths, Layla always knew her abilities weren't quite the same as her mother's. After a string of accidents relegated her to a prestigious (and out of the way) research position studying the magical violet auras of Koshoria, she soon found herself aboard the Pillars of Destruction. Five years ago you all were part of a team, on your final mission as a group something went horribly wrong. You miscalculated and lost one of your own along with the person you were supposed to protect. After that you all went your own separate ways.
One day you all receive a message from Oleander, one of your old team members, it's a prerecorded message. Someone has killed them and now you're being hired to figure out who did it. You'll get a large pay out and the bar they owned on Absalom station.
A ghost from your past has come to collect a debt. A debt paid in blood.
